CNM Student Claire Lewis Creates Her Own Web Business
In April 2005, CNM student Claire Lewis launched her web site - www.lovelula.com - selling only pure and natural beauty products, free of harmful chemical additives. The idea came some years earlier during a CNM Naturopathy lecture on detoxification.
“In class, the effects of chemicals used in shampoos and tooth pastes and other very harmful chemicals that have been found in breast tumours were discussed. I then began to realise how little information there was for consumers about the health impacts of cosmetic products. Another factor was how hard it was to source health supporting products once you were informed!”
“My journey to Naturopathy began in 2000 when my mother was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Although my mother was given surgery, it was natural methods of healing that nurtured her back to wellness following her operation. As I read more and more about the different healing modalities available, I came across the CNM and enrolled in 2001. With the methods taught in class I learned to cure my own IBS and chronic fatigue.”
“There has been no looking back. Prior to studying at the CNM and launching LoveLula, I worked as an accountant in the City.”
“My studies have opened the door to a career I wake up to with enthusiasm each day. I love that I am using what the CNM has taught me about natural health to help other people through my business.”
“Real health and vitality are the greatest gifts in life, and being able to support people in achieving that, by helping them make informed choices about their toiletries, is incredibly rewarding.”

CNM Acupuncture Graduates - Recent Trip to Vietnam
Several of the CNM acupuncture graduates of 2013 have just returned from a fantastic trip to Vietnam where they completed a 4 week postgraduate acupuncture program. The program was organised by AcuVietnam, who ensured the graduates had an excellent academic experience, whilst thoroughly enjoying every minute of the trip!
Tara tells us a little about the trip …
‘It was such a fabulous and a truly memorable trip. The experience at the hospital was fantastic, we gained so much confidence, enhanced our knowledge and skills far beyond what I ever anticipated, and witnessed some truly amazing results throughout the departments, particularly within stroke and paralysis - a couple of the cases were simply astonishing, and very emotional!
It was an incredibly hands-on experience, we personally treated all patients daily along with the department Doctors/Professors - we were even using needles up to 20cm in length! The hospital team really placed great emphasis on the use of Electro, Massage and Cupping in each treatment, which allowed us to develop these skills to such a high standard. We also were introduced to a new, exciting theory coming forward in Vietnamese Acupuncture - the ‘6 elements’. This introduced a whole new way of reading the pulse, with 24-unique prescriptions to treat imbalances predominantly using Shu points, etc - but absolutely no needles! Some of us had this done personally, and were quite taken back with the results!
The whole trip ran so smoothly, we stayed in the heart of the old quarter and our weekends were jam-packed. Hanoi is a truly magical city, a fusion of French colonial charm and rich Vietnamese culture. It is a city built around mystical lakes and brimming over with delicious, cheap cuisine – I would return in the morning!
I highly recommend this program to any student of acupuncture - It really was the trip of a lifetime!’
