7 Nutrition Tips to Detox Naturally

Many of us are unaware of the toxins we encounter and consume everyday; they are in the air, in our food and drink as well as the containers which carry our food and drink. They are also in our everyday house hold cleaning and body products.

Our bodies are designed to eliminate these toxins naturally by neutralizing and excreting toxins through our major organs, such as our colon, liver, kidney, lungs, lymph and skin. However, our systems are often already overloaded with lifestyle and environmental toxins, meaning it needs extra help to continue to support our detox organs. Detoxification recharges your body, enhances your immune system, prevents chronic diseases, supports your digestive system, encourages weight loss and improves mental and emotional clarity.

Natural support for your detox systems:

  1. Increase water intake to 2 litres (min) a day to help flush out any toxins or waste.
  2. Eat a high fibre diet with plenty of vegetables to help eliminate any toxins, and support the liver.
  3. Increase cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage and herbs such as parsley, coriander, dill and rosemary as these all support the liver.
  4. Dandelion, nettle, lemon and ginger tea are great ways to boost detoxification.
  5. Avoid processed foods as these contain chemical additives, colourings, preservatives, sweeteners and other flavour enhancers.
  6. Eat organic or wild foods to minimise exposure to pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics and other drugs.

Exercise daily, sweating promotes toxin elimination through the skin.
