Several of the CNM acupuncture graduates of 2013 have just returned from a fantastic trip to Vietnam where they completed a 4 week postgraduate acupuncture program. The program was organised by AcuVietnam, who ensured the graduates had an excellent academic experience, whilst thoroughly enjoying every minute of the trip!
Tara tells us a little about the trip …
‘It was such a fabulous and a truly memorable trip. The experience at the hospital was fantastic, we gained so much confidence, enhanced our knowledge and skills far beyond what I ever anticipated, and witnessed some truly amazing results throughout the departments, particularly within stroke and paralysis – a couple of the cases were simply astonishing, and very emotional!
It was an incredibly hands-on experience, we personally treated all patients daily along with the department Doctors/Professors – we were even using needles up to 20cm in length! The hospital team really placed great emphasis on the use of Electro, Massage and Cupping in each treatment, which allowed us to develop these skills to such a high standard. We also were introduced to a new, exciting theory coming forward in Vietnamese Acupuncture – the ‘6 elements’. This introduced a whole new way of reading the pulse, with 24-unique prescriptions to treat imbalances predominantly using Shu points, etc – but absolutely no needles! Some of us had this done personally, and were quite taken back with the results!
The whole trip ran so smoothly, we stayed in the heart of the old quarter and our weekends were jam-packed. Hanoi is a truly magical city, a fusion of French colonial charm and rich Vietnamese culture. It is a city built around mystical lakes and brimming over with delicious, cheap cuisine – I would return in the morning!
I highly recommend this program to any student of acupuncture – It really was the trip of a lifetime!’
